The Vikings

Description

Embark on an exciting journey to the age of the Vikings with this engaging workshop, designed to bring the rich history and mythology of the Norse people to life. Aligned with the KS2 History curriculum, "Take Me Back to The Vikings" allows pupils to explore the Viking creation story, their belief system, and the mighty gods who shaped their world, while also delving into their legendary conquests and everyday life.

Full Day

In a full-day workshop, pupils will expand on their morning activities by creating a performance to share with other year groups, peers, or parents and carers in the afternoon. As narrators, they will guide the audience back through time to experience the Viking world through their own eyes. This performance not only reinforces their historical learning but also boosts confidence, teamwork, and creative expression.

Half Day

In the half-day session, pupils will begin by learning about the Viking creation story, the Norse gods, and the mythical worlds of Asgard, Midgard, and beyond. Through a dynamic mix of storytelling, movement, still imagery, and group work, pupils will bring these ancient myths to life, immersing themselves in the fascinating beliefs and culture of the Vikings.

Craft Activity:

Alternatively, if you prefer a craft-based afternoon, pupils can apply their knowledge from the morning session to create something tangible. They will have the opportunity to build model Viking longboats, using their new understanding of Viking trade, conquest, and seafaring. These models make great displays for the classroom or can be taken home as a memorable keepsake.

"Take Me Back to The Vikings" offers a hands-on, interactive approach to learning that brings history alive, enabling pupils to immerse themselves in the vibrant world of the Vikings, their myths, and their extraordinary way of life.
