Embark on an unforgettable journey through Ancient Greece with this hands-on workshop, tailored to enrich the KS2 History curriculum and deepen pupils' understanding of Greek mythology, culture, and innovation. “Take Me Back to Ancient Greece” brings to life the myths, heroes, daily life, and remarkable contributions of one of history’s most influential civilisations.
Full Day
For a full-day workshop, pupils dive into the Greek creation story, exploring how Ancient Greeks understood the world and the role of their gods. Led by experienced facilitators, pupils will embody myths and tales through drama techniques, including still imagery and expressive group work. After lunch, they’ll experience the origins of the Olympics, learn about Ancient Greece’s social structure and the impact of slavery, and discover the birth of theatre. The afternoon culminates in a performance where pupils bring their knowledge to life in front of other year groups, peers, or parents and carers, reinforcing their learning through the powerful medium of storytelling.
Half Day (choose any 3)
For a half-day session, teachers can choose any three engaging topics to focus on: the Greek creation story and pantheon of gods, the heroes and monsters of Greek mythology, the glory of the original Olympics, the complex history of Greek slavery, the birth of theatre, or the foundations of democracy. Each topic is presented through an exciting blend of storytelling, movement, and group activities that help pupils actively explore and retain their new knowledge.
