Women’s Voluntary Service Lady

Description

Step back in time to wartime Britain with our interactive WWII workshop, where your pupils will experience life on the home front through the eyes of a Women's Voluntary Service (WVS) lady. In this immersive session, an actor in full period costume will guide your students through an 'evacuation' procedure, helping them understand the challenges and emotions faced by children during World War II.

This engaging workshop allows pupils to experience firsthand what childhood was like during the war, as they participate in wartime activities such as sharing rationed food, enjoying traditional sweets, learning wartime songs, and playing games that children of the era enjoyed. Pupils will also hear stories about the vital role the WVS played in supporting communities during the war, offering a unique, personal perspective on this significant period in British history.
